Health Services / First Aid

The Art Institute does not provide comprehensive health services; however, for the safety and convenience of students and staff, several key personnel have been trained in Standard First Aid and CPR by the American Red Cross Association. Although Standard First Aid may be administered, The Art Institute cannot dispense any drugs, including aspirin.

In the event of illness or injury to a student on The Art Institute's premises, or at a sponsored function of The Art Institute, the student may request transportation to a local hospital emergency room or doctor for examination and treatment if necessary. The student is responsible for any resulting expenses. The student should review personal and/or family insurance policies to determine whether appropriate coverage exists.

All full-time students of The Art Institute of Houston who are taking 9 or more credit hours are eligible to enroll in a medical plan offered through National Collegiate Underwriters and Administrators (1-800-322-0960), an independent insurance provider with whom The Art Institute of Houston has no financial interest. To find out specific information on student health insurance and terms of coverage, please stop by the Student Affairs office on the second floor.
